Welcome to my first Blog post!

Hi!  Welcome!

Please bear with me, I’m new to this whole blogging thing.  Hopefully I can keep you interested, or at least entertained long enough for me to get the hang of it so we can get the conversation going and maybe we can all learn stuff from each other.

Basically, my point of starting this is to talk about some of the current issues in the world and what my concerns are about them.

Most of my life, I was blissfully unaware of the state of affairs in the world.  I never really paid much attention to politics or societal issues, or economics beyond my need to pay rent and buy groceries.  I always kind of thought those kinds of issues were “above my pay grade” so to speak.

The last several years, though, probably due to the internet and social media, I’m becoming more and more aware of the world around me and the ways some people seem to be intent on screwing it up.

As my awakening has progressed, and continues to progress I’ve bounced, politically speaking, from side to side in my quest to figure out just what it is that I believe.  So far I’ve discovered that I often disagree with both “sides” (since in the US there can, apparently, only be two).  Even when I agree with a point one side is trying to make, I often disagree with the argument they are using to make it.

And then there’s the idea that the answer to what ever the problem is has to be one of only two possible choices.  Or, if it’s not this then it must be that.  Um, no.  This is a pretty big world we live on with lots of different people living in lots of different circumstances.  Sometimes the answer to a given problem is a little more complex than just this or that.

Anyway, I hope I’m making sense.  I intend on expanding on these points and more in my various future posts with specific issues.  I don’t hold any illusions that a few posts from a noob blogger will actually change anything, but perhaps I can plant seeds of reason in what seems to be an otherwise unreasonable world.
